The most viral thing in music right now seems the costumed Canadian math rock band of polka dotted alien weirdos, Angine de Poitrine? The YouTube algorithm has loaded up my feed with them and I have to say, my curiosity is piqued.

Their music is so weird and due to their use of microtonal scales, the notes between the notes, at first just seems off key but somehow I keep watching them. This one in particular is my favorite with a riff that will stick in your ear if you watch it a few times.

These freaks are masters of their craft. Their foot-controlled looping skills alone and ability to mix and match different time signatures to build their sound is remarkable and that drummer... what can I say? I've watched a few videos of other musicians trying to analyze their work and they are blown away.

Love it , hate it? It's hard to decide!
 
Takes me back to Zappa and early Pink Floyd. It would probably freak some of my guests out if I played this at a BBQ out here in the bush

Oh, I was/am a fan of the B52s even though I prefer classic rock, etc. They were huge in our state before they went national with Rock Lobster. They weren't the first college town band to crack the bigtime...

That said, there's a video from thier recent show in Vegas, they are showing thier age just a little bit
 
That's cool. "Sweet" the English pop band of the 70's is touring Aust. They are also showing their age. Loved their music. B52's were a fine example and Devo was one of the bands I thought of when looking at the OP video.

When I hear the B52 song "Rock Lobster" I just can't get the sight of a young lass dancing the 'robot' to it year ago. At a disco thing she took over the dance floor herding others off the square. Very serious she was. Being smashed, I. I . i dunno. What makes one think to do that robot dance to Rock Lobster. Watching her I think I tipped my beer into my ear.

Reminds me of my guitar lessons back in the day...
We also used a loop pedal with a drum machine to jam over made up scale sequences that made no sense.
It can get pretty weird or mono sounding lol.

 
A couple new ones from just a week ago. These freaks are so tight with such weird sounds and how they keep it all together and in time with multiple loops is incredible. Mad props for their skills!


 
When I first saw these guys I couldn’t believe how Tight and just perfect they are with their music, the different in between note scales and the wild stacking of tracts just shows how intricate and difficult this really is !

Watching them perform flawlessly while in costume...that has to be difficult as hell, I appreciate the costume visually but seems like that would get tiresome after awhile for them and audiences alike.,and yes they obviously interesting and talented musically. I could listen to this outside of seeing the costumed performance...same for Devo, B-52s, LOL, Kiss but its not like Id listen to a Blueman group album.
