Clint Eastwood turns 96 today, and despite rumors he might be making another film, it’s been mostly quiet on that front. Many expected “Juror #2,” which was released in 2024, to be his swan song, and maybe it will be, despite some indications that he wanted to direct another film.

A much-quoted THR article claimed that, with “Juror #2,” Eastwood “wanted to find one last project in order to be able to ride off into the sunset with his head held high.” It was being touted as Eastwood’s “final film.”

Now, we have a more recent interview, recently unearthed, with Kyle Eastwood, which has him saying that his dad has indeed “retired”:

What a legend this man leaves. I don't think there is anyone who doesn't have a little bit of Eastwood in them, am I right punk? In this day and age, I can't imaging living another 25 years to be 96. I can barely imagine five.

Eastwood’s filmography has remained remarkably consistent over the past six decades. Some of his very best films include “Unforgiven,” “Mystic River,” “Gran Torino,” “The Outlaw Josey Wales,” “Pale Rider,” “High Plains Drifter,” “A Perfect World,” and “Million Dollar Baby.” His most iconic acting can be found in “Dirty Harry,” “The Good the Bad and the Ugly,” “A Fistful of Dollars,” and “Escape From Alcatraz.” He’s had an incredible impact on cinema.

Clint is one of my all-time favorites. Now give Scott Eastwood a poncho, a revolver, and an Ennio Morricone-style spaghetti western already. I know he’s done Diablo, but I’d still like to see him star in a good old-fashion ’70s-style western.

🤠
