Get ready to say goodbye to keyboards, mouse, and touchscreens! This future is closer than you think... literally at our fingertips (or rather, in our minds).

META’s new Brain2Qwerty v2 makes brain-to-text communication a reality. Here’s how it works: Nine participants spent 10 hours each inside brain scanners, mentally typing 22,000 AI-generated sentences. An advanced AI pipeline then decoded their raw neural signals back into text.

Currently, this uses a giant MEG scanner filling an entire room because it requires cryogenic cooling to keep its sensors running. To bypass this limitation, researchers are looking at flexible, wearable designs that function at room temperatures, these sensors can be arranged inside a lightweight, flexible helmet.

Brain-to-text sounds cool, but I’m definitely going to need a spam filter for my own brain before I join any group chats.

Haha! :ROFLMAO:

That's pretty cool and a little bit scary but since I won't even use Facebook, the last thing I would consider doing is letting them look inside my head.

I thought there might be some uses of this technology for people with limited mobility or some other challenge but you'd have to be fit enough to type 22,000 sentences for 10 hours to train it so you have to wonder who something like this would even be for?

Hmmm, that's a hard pass for me.

This sounds like next gen mind warfare for military cyber wars. The public are the beta testers. One example would be scouts or spies ability to provide real-time intelligence sharing with whomever or a command & control supercomputer that also interfaces with drones. Early version would like the First Earth Battalion or the Sci-fi movie Ender's Game.

US military think tanks have been working on this and other versions since the 1970s.
By capturing the encephalograph of an individual hearing or seeing certain words, an "electroencephalographic dictionary" could be created. These patterns in turn could be modulated onto microwaves, and literally beamed into an individual's brain, creating a kind of interior dialogue with a literal "someone else" stepping into an individual's internal conversation. The idea is frightening, especially to those who may not know about such capabilities, and who think - to put it very bluntly - that they're going nuts.

Elon's neurochip currently benefits those that are severely handicapped. Early beta testers. Remember, Elon is also a military contractor. An Australian competitor had their first patient send a tweet just by thinking it. That was done in 2020.

Apple has patent allready

I am indifferent to this. To be sure, I really don't care.

Me: Hey AI, service and tune my saw, trim the bar, sharpen the chain mit the angle to accomodate a dead dry Grey Gum at 27 years old. Make sure the wind won't twist the tree. Cut so it falls where I can decide how to cut the billets. Then you cut the billets best to suit my hearth without the saw getting stuck. Take the billets up to the splitter and split them individullaly to get the best heat from the hearth, light the fire place and ensure the burning timber is at a flue spike that enables best heat with ignition.

Do all this with in mind that I live in a unique location and with concerns towards the expected tempurature that day/evening. If it is raining, I don't accept wet wood. Wrap yer laughing gear aroung that AI.
