Hi all, a lap of Phillip Island in the southern state of Victoria. Hosts a lot of World Championship races. There is talk of that state Government in closing the circuit. Beat me why.

Been to Phillip Island many times as a 'tin lid'. Beaut place. Rode around it on a push bike once.

Kind regards

MotoGP, World Championship grand prix prototype racing at the highest level is my main passion as a dedicated super fan. I subscribe annually to their video streaming package and haven't missed viewing a race live from wherever it is in the world or whatever time it is on in at least a decade. I just finished watching the races from Mugello in Italy that started at 2:00 a.m. my time and have been up all night. Next week the series moves to Hungary then to Czechia then to the Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain, Spain etc. They have one event in the U.S. at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas.

Philip Island has always been one of MotoGP's most iconic venues. Fans are not at all happy it has been dropped from the calendar.

Here's the highlights of last year's race

Yeah, a bit of a shame. Fans travelled the length and breadth to watch the races. You know the racing is on, as enthusiasts ride in convoys along the main routes from states to the venue on all types of bikes particulaly during the golden years in Australia with Gardner and Doohan. Here the final laps of their little tete au tete on the 500cc class in 1990. Both riders leading but experience difficulties while pushing their machines to the limit.

Ah, the good old two-srtoke days. Back then it was Lawson, Rainey and Schwantz for me and even King Kenny Roberts and Freddie Spencer before that and who can ever forget Doohan and Gardner? Last time an American took the title was in 2006 with Nicky Hayden, RIP. I actually met him once back in his Superbike days before going to Europe.
