A wild ass law is circulating in Oregon that might actually make on The Ballot for vote!

Outlaw Hunting and Fishing!

Yes that's what they want!

Who's making this one stick?

Who's funding this insanity???? :D

Initiative Petition 28 seeks to outlaw all forms of commercial and sport fishing in Oregon, including catch-and-release. It would also ban all forms of hunting and trapping in the state.

A radical initiative to ban hunting, fishing, and trapping in Oregon is now one step closer to making the ballot in November. The animal rights activists who are running a paid campaign to advance the petition say they’ve gathered enough support to surpass the threshold of 117,173 signatures. An online ballot tracker shows that the campaign had submitted 120,735 signatures as of Wednesday.

Those signatures still have to be verified by the Secretary of State’s office. There are certain verification standards for these signatures, and it’s possible (or even likely) that some of them will be thrown out before the official signature deadline on July 2.

But local hunting and fishing groups like the Oregon Hunters Association say they’re already expecting IP28 to make the November ballot. Although past versions of the same measure failed to qualify for the ballot in 2020 and 2022, OHA executive director Todd Adkins says the activists pushing IP28 are now better funded and, in some ways, empowered by the anti-hunting ballot initiatives that have cropped up during other state elections in recent years.

Asking, cause, this has done my head in. Is Oregon like actually now part of the USA? Me thoughts it wuz. But then there's Portland.

I....er....I..just dunno. But then, thinking. It costs more to go fishing with regs, gear, banned zones etc, restrictions here so I go to the fish monger. But that's not recreation.

Near where I live there is a ban on catching/targetting South Eastern Cod. If caught in the resticted area with fishing gear even driving through, during the all types of fishing restricted period then it's a heafty fine and confiscation of everything and can include your vehicle.

Hunting, well I guess, sure, it's happened here. Firearms banned unless for specific lawful reasons. All native animals, fauna etc are protected. You can get a licence to hunt some like roos for meat, but anyway, you've made me think. It's pretty well like that here now.

USA is different in many respects where me thoughts are that it's early history revolved around hunting, trapping and fishing to live.

See, there you go, I confused myself. Must be the time. 4.48am here. I need a beer before the sun comes up.

I'd be interested to see the outcome Fox.

Ban hunting and fishing ?

Get ready for much higher disease rates and more pockets of starving populations of herd animals and an increasing number of predatory animals to eat them, as well as increased predator/human interaction.

Man, here in America, there are loads of families that supplement thier diets through hunting and fishing protein, all demographics.

There's nothing wrong with a venison, wild boar, and catfish-supplemented diet.

Even from my perspective as an evil Communist Leftist, Fascist, Queer Tree-Hugging Liberal  I think this is friggin' crazy. I don't know what they're smoking up there?

Have they not heard of wildlife management or why it is important and necessary? If this passes, I hope they get what they wished for so they can see how badly it turns out.
