I remember this night. I ran down to the shore thinking I'd catch the sun but too late. I snapped a few for the heck of it and sat on one of the benches. I remember looking around and nothing but blue sky and sea. the sky was red/orange on the horizon and darkened upward. not a soul around. amazing view, I realized. that was a 'wow' moment for me. glad I had my camera.

Asking where the pic was taken only because when I'm on the east coast here there is a similar spot to sit and watch the sunrise. Very pretty.

Great pic mate. The big trees particulaly the one on the right. Not familiar to me. I'm guessing here, are they Oaks?

Might have effed this up but anyway duel pic and couldn't insert text.

Thought I'd share this with you. The view of the southern sky from outside my house. Good time of year. My first spacey pic I took with my son in laws Iphone 15 (so he says) He's only recently arrived from England and has never see stars like this let alone the crux. Not enhanced, Just how it is out here.

Center of pic are 2 bright stars. Alpha Centauri and Beta Centauri. Draw a line at about 45 degrees from those stars and at the right you'll spot the crux. I took this for 5thCav and posted it in the phot competition on TLA.

Also left of the crux is that cloudy dark area which is known as the "Coal Sack". It is the head of the mythical Aboriginal Emu which the whole shape can be made out if there was a wider shot of the whole Milky Way. With calculation the cross and pointers the southern pole can be determined.
