So, my boneheaded play of the week....
If you do something dumb, just refer back to this and you'll feel better.
So yesterday, I decided to change the oil in my old truck. A '96 Ram 1500 and it's only got 156,000 miles on it. It's my "Do Everything" truck. Mostly to go fishing or pick up tree limbs or branches before I mow, get a load of lumber or firewood..
So I go change the oil and then start the truck, looked underneath for leaks and then discovered I was out of cigarettes. I thought Well, I'll just let it run while I go to town. It only takes me about 20 minutes to do a quick trip and I hadn't started it in a couple weeks so it'll give time for the battery to charge and circulate the oil. So I jump in my other truck, go to town, come back and thought It's gonna rain tomorrow so I better get some mowing done and while I'm at it, I really need to trim those trees and get some fertilizer on the garden and fruit trees and a whole list of other things to do before it rains.
Now, you'd think I'd hear my truck running but where I park it is about 150 ft away under an awning on the back side of the yard so....
* in your best SpongeBob narrator voice* 4 hours Later.....
I remembered my truck was running.
Oil pressure was fine, temp was fine and even a big V8 won't drink that much gas at idle.
I think some days I leave my brain in my other pants.
BUT...I got everything done.
What ? Hell no I didn't tell my Wife.
